Adaptively mesh a domain defined by function Global expression?

Hello all,

I have a single domain in 2D within which I describe thermal conductivity by means of a space-varying function: k = f(x,y). I want to vary x and y using the parametric solver, but that will require the mesh to also be controlled somehow by the solver. I don't know how to do this.
Simply put, the mesh will need to be finer near the "boundaries" and within the area created by the function. I can't do this manually, how do I do it? I assume it's by using the same or similar function as for k, but I have no idea how to do it.

I've attached a simple model file as an example. The Global expressions dialog holds the function describing k, the constants dialog holds the initial / dummy values.

Ben.
