Moving Mesh questions

In the setting interface, Moving Mesh (ale) --- Prescribed Mesh Displacement, there are two items called Prescribed x displacement and Prescribed y displacement. My question is what's the difference between check or uncheck the corresponding boxes before these two items, for example, when should I check the dx box, and when uncheck ?
Thank you!

Hi

if I read you right, unchecked imeans "free" to move anywhere, checked means restiricted to default "0" or whatever =0 in the field you have entered
