Researching with the Material Library
Based on the Material Property Database (MPDB) from JAHM Software, Inc., the Material Library contains information for 2500 materials including the elements, minerals, rocks, soil, metal alloys, oxides, steels, thermal insulators, semiconductors, and optical materials. Features include:
- 24 key parameters—Each material entry supplies algorithmic specifications that vary over temperature or other variables for as many as 24 key parameters including thermal, elastic, and other properties such as conductivity and viscosity
- Functions ideal for multiphysics modeling—The functions used to describe each key parameter make the Material Library ideal for multiphysics couplings such as electrical-thermal analysis and structural-thermal analysis.
- Flexible settings—The properties are analytic functions over a given interval of the dependent variable and, in some cases, properties are given for a material’s solid, liquid, and vapor phases. COMSOL Multiphysics makes use of smoothing to interpolate property values between different intervals–and you have complete freedom to choose the smoothing settings.
