Using COMSOL Multiphysics in the lab
Depending on the size of your institution or the extent of the modeling being performed, COMSOL provides a range of licensing options.*
The Named Single User License is bound to one user who can install it on multiple processors. For multiple users, with a Floating Network License you can install COMSOL products on a dedicated computer or on a server with user-access controls for availability to many processes. Students completing a project for a department or institution can also access the software through a Class Kit License.
License options:
Named Single User License (NSL)
A single named individual may use at most one concurrent session of a Program. You may replace the named user for the license on a temporary or permanent basis provided that only one individual is designated as the named user at any given time.
CPU Locked Single User License (CPU)
Any individual may use one concurrent session of a Program on a single designated computer at any given time, working from the console of that designated computer.
Floating Network License (FNL)
At any time you may have as many sessions of a Program in use as you have agreed to license. If the Program has the ability to run as a client and server on separate computers, only the FNL version gives you the right to use the Program in this configuration. Only users connected to the network can access the Program.
Class Kit License (CKL)
As many as 30 concurrent students and two (2) teaching assistants can participate in a class kit license. This license is for academic use only.
