Shape function - Hermite elements

Hi,

I am using COMSOL 4.0 with the PDE weak form mode and a 1D space.

In the 3.5 version it was easy to use hermite elements, but in this new version I can't find how to use them.
Is it possible ? Do I have to write a .m file on my own to specify what kind of element will be used ?

Thanks a lot !

Hello Francois,
Hermite elements were not implemented in version 4.0 but they are implemented in version 4.1 (See Release Notes manual, version 4.1, page 7).

Thanks for your quick answer !

But I have just found the Comsol Multiphysics Reference Guide for the 4.0 version

p. 264 a paragraph about Hermite elements and the needed sintax can be read.

So I imagine i can use these elements ?

If my recollection is correct (and it's been a while!) in v4.0 the Hermite elements will not work in the PDE interfaces, only Lagrange elements.

Yep, looks like I remembered correctly: Hermite elements were not available for the PDE interfaces (including the weak form that you're saying you want to use) at version 4.0. They are available at version 4.1.
