Introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics 4.4

COMSOL Multiphysics version 4.4 brings an advanced yet intuitive new COMSOL Desktop® interface to Windows® users, a completely new tool for setting up multiphysics models, and overall enhancements in user experience. All users will benefit from features such as the hover-and-click selection method, auto-complete search tool for variables, user-defined geometric primitives, if/else statements in the model tree for conditional geometry creation, NASTRAN®-mesh file export, and time-unit handling in the solvers.

In addition to the new user interface, there have been a number of enhancements to functionality in the add-on products. New capabilities and features include faster methods for both mechanical contact and heat radiation, 165 additional nonlinear magnetic materials, a built-in interface for simulating laser heating, an efficient method for solving particle-field and fluid-particle interactions, additional optimization solvers for dimensional and topology optimization, and greatly enhanced mass and energy conservation for fluid flow.
